Galway Garden Transformation – A Softer, Brighter Outdoor Space

Some gardens need a full redesign. Others just need someone to see their potential. This Galway project fell into the second category. The space had good bones, but the surface was far from inviting - a layer of loose stones that didn’t encourage anyone to spend time outside. It felt unfinished, a place you passed through rather than a place you could enjoy.

The homeowners wanted something cleaner, softer and more practical year-round. That’s where Sanctuary stepped in.

Because the existing area was a hard surface, the installation needed to meet safety requirements, particularly around impact protection. Our team installed a foam underlay beneath the new artificial grass to satisfy HIC standards. This layer makes a big difference. It creates a safer, more cushioned surface while still giving the garden that crisp, tidy finish people look for. Once the underlay was in, the grass could be fitted seamlessly across the full space. The team also carefully cut and shaped the grass around the existing shed, ensuring a tight, seamless finish without disrupting any of the garden’s features.
